Hi, here are the latest details regarding Robs funeral;

The funeral of Rob Fradley is to be held at All Saints Church, Daresbury, Cheshire on Tues 9th Sept at 1.15

It was Robs wish to be escorted on his final journey by as many motorcycle mounted friends as possible.

Update;

If we could meet up between 12.15 - 12.30 at CW8 2FE, St Catherines Drive, Hartford, Cheshire, please go to the end of the cul-de-sac and group neatly with thought for the residents. Vanessa and I will be there in good time.
If you wish to meet others to arrive in a group, please arrange this independantly.

The funeral cortege will leave this address at 12.45 prompt for the (aprox) 1/2hr drive/ride to All Saints Church, Daresbury.
There will be a lead car then the bikes, followed by Rob with the family cars following behind.

After the church service the cortege shall continue the short distance to the crematorium, the wake is at a local pub which is opposite the church.

Could someone please update the first post with this information.

Sadly I am not going to make this. I appear to have developed an oil leak again. I noticed it out riding at the National. I only did the two rideouts there and I just put nearly a pint in. That's a lot of oil to be losing when setting out on a 400 mile round trip. I am not sure AA vans look quite as fetching as part of a funeral cortège.

My thoughts will be there, even if I am not.

Unfortunately I can't be there, but i will be thinking of him, his family and all of you riding in his honour and shall hold my own vigilance of silence tomorrow in memory of Frad :(

I must also say I cannot be there. New job will not authorise the absence, as it's not for a close family member! They didn't get my slant on Family :(
Thoughts please to everyone.

Chris.

It's a shame you guys & and gal can't make it. I'll pass on your regards to Catherine and the family.

Here are a few more details, if a mod could pop the details in the first post :)

On entrance to the church grounds, we will park behind the lead car at the side of the road but please could the back rider please ensure they don't park before the gate entrance to the church as this are is required for the hearse
The first 5 pews on the far RHS in the church have been reserved for us.

The order of the cortege will be the same heading from the church to the crematorium

Happened to me years ago. My flatmate from student days was killed in a car crash. I simply insisted it was compassionate leave.

My boss understood and authorised it - in the days before HR depts having to OK everything.

I never met Rob (Frad) but remembered his frequent forum contributions, and, on occasion, his very positive comments on his medical problems. (Stuck in my mind particularly as my wife's maiden name is Fradd !)
It's very clear from this thread that Rob had many, many friends and I'd just like to offer my condolences to his family and friends.
Give him a good send-off !

I think Rob would have been happy with the turnout today. Family, friends - and bikes.

The eulogy from Nick (an old friend) really caught Rob's character and sense of humour.
Rob's daughter, Holly's speech was incredibly moving. I don't think there was a dry eye in the church.

Rob, it was a pleasure and an honour to have spent some time with you. See you on the other side.

Absolutely spot on Mick.

Vader managed to get a BigTrailie sticker to send away with Rob, and another on the Vara made of flowers, it lightened the mood a bit & I think the big fella would like that :)

Great turn out of bikes, yet again Catherine & Holly would like to thank everyone for being there.

Yes, Mick has really summed it up well. I know that we will all still see Rob and Catherine as eternal members of the Big Trailie community and I was proud to be part of Robs farewell. Thanks to Catherine and family for having us there. And thanks to Phil and Hudders for the excellent "outriding" service. And thanks to Ian, Ruth and Russ for the company and "escort" to and from the event. Got home safely, shattered but pleased to have been a part of it. You will be forever in our memories, Rob. X

It was a good day and a hard day too

Many of the family members came up to me afterwards and thanks us for being on the bikes. They all felt it helped make the day a truly memorable one

Organisation and contact from the team was excellent and efficient

We did him proud

XRV/Big Trailie and "Organisation" another first :D
It was a great sad day. The church bit was very hard cause we couldn't do it in the usual Style by taking the p*S's but once we where at the crematorium normal service was resumed which I know Frad would have enjoyed.
Gone miss him showing up and calling me Krautface but I am sure he enjoyed me wearing the "Achtung Spitfire" tshirt.
Going to miss you big guy but won't forget you

I Ditto all the above comments.

A grand day out was had by one & all including Frad who would have really appreciated the tour de force of XRV /Big Trailie escort / ride out & it was a sunny day too which makes a change.

Thanks to V & Phil for the black ribbon armbands muchly appreciated & looked smart too, much more professional than black gorilla tape.

I echo Vaders comment of it being a great sad day, these type of occasions are especially when your mate is younger than yourself.

Yesterday was a special day for myself as it was the 39th anniversary of the day I joined the Army on 09 09 1975.

So 09 09 2014 will now have a special meaning too.

Thanks for yesterday everyone.

As Chad says, it was a very emotional time and I know I was not the only supposedly rough, tough biker with tears in my eyes. Speaking to Rob's mother she told me that when all the bikes turned up at the house she just burst into tears knowing that he would have enjoyed the tribute. We all loved you Rob, sleep well mate.

I never cry but I struggled to hold back the tears throughout the day. I felt so proud to be escorting rob on his last ride. There were 18 bikes but 19 riders coz I know Rob was there in spirit.

Rob's mum also told me how she felt so proud of her son with all the bikers who turned. It's the mark of the man that the church and crem was packed to capacity. Rest well Rob.

Sent from my iPhone with a smile :)

A message from Catherine,

''The bikers were absolutely amazing, just made the day 'perfect'
A send off Rob would be proud of''

The charity money that Hudders has bludgeoned off everyone since Saturday has gone to St Lukes Cheshire Hospice, in Robs name.
A fitting and worthy cause methinks.
Good call Si.
